Pest Control Surveys
At Sparta Pest Control, we provide pest control surveys to help identify any potential pest problems, both for our residential and commercial customers in North London – specifically Haringey, Enfield, Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill
Why Is a Pest Control Survey Important?
You may wonder why undertake a pest control survey, why not just start a pest control treatment course immediately? Sometimes, you might not be sure if you do in fact have a pest problem and a survey is always a good starting point for all potential treatments as well. A pest control survey can also be effectively used as a preventative measure to identify any vulnerabilities for your property and new business site.
We also get requests from customers to do assessments before any pest issues arise as part of home buyers surveys and commercial pest control surveys. This way any obvious concerns can be identified and dealt with so no pest issue arises unexpectedly. Pest prevention really does work.
By undertaking a survey, we may establish if pests are present in your home or premises, as well as determine their type. This means we are able to decide the best treatment plan, as before your unwanted guest can be effectively treated, they must first be located and understood. Every treatment plan is personal to your pest problem and you are an important part of the process.
Residential Pest Control Surveys
Residential Pest Control Surveys
- When arriving outside your home, we will immediately start to undertake an assessment to identify any vulnerable points. At times we can immediately determine this, even before we have knocked on your front door. It may be a damaged air brick, that is allowing a rat direct access into the building.
- On occasions we may simply seek to establish if there is any evidence of a pest and if so, source of the pests: We look where the pests may be coming from and what might be attracting them to your home or premises.
- Entry Points: We look for gaps, holes, or entry points in the building, cracks in walls, open windows, gaps under doors and other vulnerabilities.
- We’ll look in areas where you may be reporting bites, such as your bed or sofa. Examine those cracks and crevices in the bedroom where those bugs might be hiding during the day, before they pop out at night for a feed. They may just be the larvae hiding in the carpets, causing damage.
- Finding the pests: We see if the pests is simply passing through or if and where it's living and breeding in your house or premises.
- Identifying signs, this can help us confirm a pest problem and if the pest has caused any damage in your home or premises.
As always, you, our customer, are an important part of the survey process. We will talk to you and ask questions aimed to identify and understand the pests and to ultimately get to the root cause of your pest problem. This will include asking the following questions:
- What and where have you seen your suspected unwanted guest?
- Since when?
- Previous pest control issues?
- Damage being caused?
- Does your neighbour have a pest problem?
- Any recent building works?
As part of your survey, we will also undertake a risk assessment to ensure that we agree on the best and safest course of pest treatment suited to your needs. We will take into consideration if someone is pregnant, or you have children and/or pets to make sure everyone is kept safe. You and your family’s safety is our priority.
Commercial Pest Control Surveys

- Identify the risk rating of the site, which impacts the number of inspections and treatments recommended
- Enable an inspection or treatment plan to be devised where Environmental Health Officers (EHO) are satisfied there is a robust pest intervention plan in place.
- Consider risks to people and the environment
- Work out a realistic price for the work required.
- Maintain the reputation of your business in confidence or get the right support to bring your business back up to scratch with a pest treatment and prevention plan.
Why Is a Pest Control Survey Important?
When buying and selling a home your emotions run high and the journey is often a roller coaster of feelings. You are faced with many challenges along the way and we do not want a pest problem to be one of your challenges. At Sparta we offer surveys before buying or selling a house to make the process a bit less stressful for you. In the UK, when selling a house, you are legally required to disclose any environmental issues related to your property, this includes rats or other vermin. For more details see propertysaviour.co.uk.
We recently attended a home after a house buyer survey, as part of the selling process, identified signs of possible rodent activity. We were able to go and assess the property promptly and thoroughly inspected the property and honestly concluded that there was no sign at all of rodent activity. We undertook preventative work and blocked up the air vents effectively and put an inspection plan in place as requested by our customer.
This assisted with the home selling process progressing without unnecessary delay, but also gave the seller and buyer of the property confidence that there was no pest issue.
